I don`t really do journal entry's here on DA but I thought this would be a interesting topic in the little shop of horrors fandom...
and the dentist guy your talking about, I don't know how the university he went to get his dental qualification,I don't know how the people there let him get away with him getting his qualification when they would of known that he'd only put in pain/hurt his patients? (as well as his so called GIRLFRIEND Audrey) If I was Mr Mushnick I would of have contacted the police straight away and told them that he isn't really a dentist as he only put his patients in pain. Orin would probably be glad that people didn't call the police to dob on him.

When you break down LSoH a lot of it doesn't make sense. But it's a world where everyone accepts that dentists are sadists and everybody loves plants way too much. It's silly.
As for the domestic abuse, it's a tricky issue. Sure, you can call the cops on someone, but if the victim isn't willing to admit the abuse and it's well hidden, people get away with it. Keep in mind too that the story takes place in the early 1960s. Women weren't treated as well as they are today and there weren't as many physical abuse laws as we have now so it would be harder to enforce.
